Maths Review
5 July 2018
The Maths Review is a magazine that gives an insight into mathematics at Stowe.
The articles in the magazine include, but are not limited to, Cauchy-Schwarz inequality, Fresnel Integrals and, of course, infinity!
Pythagoreans believed that numbers are the essence of all things. In addition to that we believe, as well as describing ‘the things’, the numbers have an intrinsic value. That is, even if we could not associate numbers to anything physical, it will still be valueable.
As Spengler put it, “numbers spring from a source that also has other outlets.”
We embrace this idea at Stowe and dig further into mathematics and our understanding of it, to see the other outlets.
