London Senior Old Stoic Lunch

14 April 2016

Group-Shot

On the afternoon of Wednesday, 13 April, we returned to the Savile Club for our second Senior Old Stoic Luncheon. With over 30 Old Stoics in attendance, once again, the occasion proved very popular with members over the age of 70,  who live in London and the Home Counties.

We enjoyed a Champagne Reception, followed a delicious three course lunch. Chris Atkinson (Chatham 59) gave a truly memorable Grace, mentioning each guest by name, followed by a welcome by John 'Fingers' Fingleton (Chatham 66) who had helped with the arrangements for the event. We were delighted to welcome a number of distinguished guests, including The Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover (Grenville 46). The atmosphere was very jovial, with guests reminiscing about their time at Stowe, renewing acquaintances and making new friends.

As lunch drew to a close, Jonathon Hall (Bruce 79), Old Stoic Society Chairman, gave a short speech, thanking everyone for attending and taking the opportunity to bestow a vote of thanks upon John 'Fingers' Fingleton (Chatham 66) for his hard work and commitment to the Old Stoic Committee over the last twenty years. Anna Semler (Nugent 05) also presented Fingers with the first Old Stoic Ambassador Lapel Pin, to mark his departure from the Old Stoic Committee.

Throughout the afternoon, the service was exceptional with the staff at the Savile Club working hard to ensure our guests were well looked after. I would like to thank all of our guests for attending and the Savile Club for making us feel so welcome. We hope to hold this lunch again next year.
