GCSE Results 2021
12 August 2021
Stowe’s Fifth Form worked incredibly hard and this Summer produced the School’s best ever set of GCSE results. In common with pupils all across the UK, these results have been generated in the most challenging circumstances.
56% of all grades awarded are at grades 7-9 (equivalent to the old A*/A). 18 pupils scored grades at 8-9 in at least eight subjects, with two achieving an impressive nine grade 9s. A further 21 scored at 8-9 in at least six subjects and overall 47 pupils achieved at least eight GCSEs at grades 7-9. 34% of all grades awarded overall were at grades 8 to 9 (A*).
These grades were awarded after a rigorous process combining continuous assessment, coursework and a demanding series of exam-style assessments in May/ June. These excellent results are testament to the hard work of our pupils and staff who have risen to the challenge during these unprecedented times.
Departments with over half of their cohort score grades at 8-9 are Chemistry, Further Maths, Music, Latin, Greek, Russian, Chinese and Italian. In addition, departments with over half of their pupils achieve grade 7 or higher are Maths, English Literature, Biology, Physics, Sports Science, Design, Art, Drama, French, German, EAL, History, Geography and Philosophy & Religion.
We commend both the pupils, teachers and support staff for the commitment, resilience and initiative they demonstrated during periods of online learning and the strong grades at all levels show the character and professionalism of the entire Stowe community.
