Albotherm: A bright idea for Shade
3 July 2020
Albotherm is a spin-out company from the University of Bristol, co-founded by Old Stoic Molly Allington (Lyttleton, 15). The technology is based around a responsive polymer that reflects heat and light at high temperatures, and can be used to provide reversible, temperature responsive shade for greenhouse crops. The technology has been developed at the Bristol Centre for Functional Nanomaterial, most recently by Sian Fussell, Albotherm’s CTO and Co-Founder.
Molly and Sian are now raising funds to fuel the next stage of development - creating a prototype paint from the polymer and then testing it in a commercial greenhouse. This will enable them to be in the position launch at the end of year two.
