The Jeremy Nichols Bursary

20 January 2022

The Development Office has been working with Jeremy Nichols’ family, Rupert, Emma, Tory and Lucy to find a lasting and appropriate memorial to the former Headmaster here at Stowe. After the wonderful tributes heard at his Memorial Service held in the Chapel in September 2021 it became clear that his family really wanted to see if a Bursary could be raised to educate a child in his name as part of the wider Change 100 mission

The goal is to raise an endowment of £1million which would generate enough income to finance a place at Stowe for all time and forever. It seems completely right that a man who dedicated his life to getting the best out of every child should be remembered by giving such an opportunity to future talented and deserving boys and girls. We have already raised £250,000 to the fund in gifts and pledges – many coming from Old Etonians who had been in his House before Jeremy moved to Stowe – and we are delighted to have passed this first milestone as we work towards ensuring that Jeremy’s name is forever remembered here at Stowe.
