Earlier this year you may well have read in The Corinthian of the forthcoming launch of ‘Change 100’. This is our mission to increase substantially the school's bursary fund - so that we can give the life-changing chance of a Stowe education to many, many more talented and deserving children from less-advantaged backgrounds.
As the Headmaster said earlier this year:
“The success of independent schools is not based on class snobbery or privilege, but on their ability to move with the times, to re-invent themselves and stay relevant. Change 100 is our mission to raise £100m as an endowment for bursaries, to support one hundred fully funded boarding and day places at the School in perpetuity.
It is a vision for the next 100 years of educational excellence which will provide transformational opportunities for children who would otherwise not being able to attend this unique school; a school which prides itself on bringing out the best in each and every Stoic.”
Due to the global lock-down, we have put our plans for the formal launch of Change 100 on hold for just a little while longer, until the School has been able to re-open its doors and our lives return to whatever the new normality may look like.
Nonetheless, we are incredibly excited about our plans - and perhaps, in this current climate, they are more relevant and important than ever before.
At a time when the importance of our key workers has never been clearer, so too is it clear that the income of a child’s parents should not be a factor in their ability to achieve every ounce of their full potential.
