Mrs Sharon Carter

I spent my younger years living on the coast of West Cumbria. Following university I realised it was about time I earned some money and began my teaching career. I have taught in a variety of different schools, and with pupils with a wide range of learning issues.  

I love the challenge of trying to make the curriculum accessible to all, helping students gain a greater understanding. One can see pupils grow in confidence as they realise they can succeed.

Stoics are great fun to work with. They seem to appreciate the teaching you offer them. They always thank me for a lesson. I gave one class a long reading and spelling test, and they still thanked me at the end of the lesson!

I really enjoy teaching small groups where the pupils work in teams. They have to work together to find the answer to a question, and then explain their method to another group. Pupils are fantastic at teaching each other.

If they have an opinion, Stoics have been too polite to declare it!

I am a Fourth Form tutor to some great girls in Stanhope. I also help out at the swimming pool, which is a very pleasant way of spending an afternoon.

My aim is to play lots of instruments and participate in many cultural activities. I am along way from achieving this.
