Life before Stowe
Coming from a military family, I went to boarding school from the age of eight. I loved it. My parents moved to a different place nearly every year, so I saw my childhood as an adventure. We settled in Wellingborough and I trained at Northampton General Hospital 30 years ago. I worked on the Trauma Ward after qualifying. Having decided to specialise in Orthopaedics, I went to train at the Royal Orthopaedic Hosptal in Birmingham for a year. I then decided to join the Army and commissioned into the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps.
On leaving, I retrained as a Health Visitor, undertaking my Public Health degree in Middlesbrough. I have worked with various other organisations in a health capacity, often helping to set up new initiatives or help struggling ones to work more efficiently. I have experience working as a Practice Nurse, School Nurse, and more recently as an Occupational Health Nurse, so I hope to bring a wide skill set to the team at Stowe. I have finally moved back home after 25 years of being away!
What do you enjoy most about Nursing?
I have always wanted to be a nurse since I was a little girl. I always want to help people and enjoy the satisfaction of sharing knowledge to make things better.
What do you enjoy most about Stowe?
- The beautiful surroundings! My family and I are National Trust members and love to walk in the gardens. I never thought I would one day work at the School.
- The Team – such a positive and friendly team to work with.
My husband, two children (who are away at University & Boarding School so I love it when we are all home together), my two Labradors and music.
