Life before Stowe
After attending Stamford School I went to Loughborough University to study Automotive Engineering, where I stayed to complete my PGCE in Design Technology. I then worked at Bablake School in Coventry for eight years before joining Stowe.
What do you enjoy most about your subject?
Design Technology gives pupils the opportunity to use the skills and knowledge they have developed in other subjects, such as Maths, Physics and Art, and apply to them to a real world problem. They can take a project from creative concept all the way through to making and testing, working independently and taking ownership of what they are producing. Seeing pupils take pride in their own creations in hugely fulfilling.
What do you enjoy most about Stowe?
The beautiful setting and working with passionate, committed and supportive colleagues. But most of all the Stoics themselves – they make sure there’s never a dull day!
What is your favourite lesson?
When the pupils take their designs from the classroom and in to the workshop, where their imagination and creativity can come to life.
What do others say about you?
Friendly, laid back, but passionate.
I am a Fourth Form Tutor and Chatham Under Housemaster. I also coach Yearlings hockey and assist with the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
All things design related, particularly engineering. I’m a big petrol head and can happily talk about cars for hours. I also enjoy travelling and love a good road trip and camping in Europe.
