Life before Stowe

I’m originally from North Yorkshire and have taught Art in England, Scotland, and Switzerland. Each experience has shaped my teaching and broadened my creative practice.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

The sheer diversity of Art. No two lessons are ever the same, and as Art teachers, we have the privilege of writing our own textbook.

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

The beauty - both in the grounds and the architecture. For a visual person, it is hard to imagine a more inspiring place to teach and create.

What is your favourite lesson?

“What is Art?” I love seeing pupils wrestle with the question, debate their ideas, and ultimately discover their own answers.

What do others say about you?

That I am intense, creative, and occasionally a little obsessive - but balanced by strong emotional intelligence. Someone with many layers, and not just in the depth of my wardrobe.
