Life before Stowe
Having completed my degree in French, Spanish and Latin at the University of Exeter in 2011, I took to the slopes and beaches for the next two years working in France, Spain, Italy and Austria before returning to the UK. I then taught languages in two other schools before coming to Stowe in 2016.
What do you enjoy most about your subject?
I love how speaking different languages opens up so many doors to you in life, enabling you to connect with people and make friends all over the world. Within the subject itself, it’s the grammar I love the most, as that’s what really separates the excellent from the good. Finally, I think it’s a fantastic subject for in-class teaching; it’s easy to have fun with and I love to a see a student gain in confidence.
What do you enjoy most about Stowe?
The location is stunning and the facilities are fantastic, but it’s the people that make it truly great. Every single member of staff and pupil since I have come here has made me feel very welcome and a part of the community. Going on a twilight run around the lakes is pretty special too.
What is your favourite Lesson?
One that goes off on a spontaneous but necessary tangent and proves to be incredibly worthwhile for the pupils.
What do others say about you?
That I’m tall. And male.
Skiing, cricket, squash, running, Grenville Under Housemaster.
Languages, travelling, music and sport.
