Life before Stowe
I grew up playing a wide range of sports; hockey, football, cricket, tennis, badminton and more… As a teenager I started specialising in hockey and played at County and Regional level as well as England Universities and in the National League for several clubs. On the job front I found my way into Financial Services although my passion for hockey and coaching never left and had many coaching roles including university 1st XI men and women, First Team Club Coach and have coached many juniors at academies and residential camps. My dream job has always been a full time sports coach and I feel very lucky to be working here at Stowe in that role.
What do you enjoy most about your subject?
Seeing the improvement in junior hockey players is a great feeling. Whether it is a beginner learning a basic skill or an advanced player perfecting something very technical, helping others improve their hockey and sporting ability is definitely my favourite part of the job.
What do you enjoy most about Stowe?
The facilities are incredible. So many sports are catered for and the opportunities are endless. Walking around the grounds during the day is pretty impressive – not a bad office!
What is your favourite Lesson?
Hockey and anything sport related!
What do others say about you?
This is always a tricky one to answer. If I had to pick one word it would probably be competitive. I have asked a friend to help here and tenacious, competitive with a strong attention to detail came up along with a bizarre knowledge of 1990’s football!
Keen triathlete and just competed at Vichy in the Ironman 70.3 on 27 August 2016.
Family, sport and Nottingham Forest – probably in that order!!
