Life before Stowe

Having started my career working in TV post-production in London, I quickly moved into teaching and took a peripatetic position at Uppingham teaching Music Technology, where I stayed for seven years before joining Stowe part-time in 2012, and then eventually full-time in 2015.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

The creativity that each new pupil brings to the recording studio is great. Each pupil has his or her own style and musical tastes, meaning that I’m constantly having to adjust my mind-set as someone new walks through the door.

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

The friendly and welcoming atmosphere, the fun-loving attitude of the Stoics and the ability to walk the picturesque grounds during lunch!

What is your favourite Lesson?

One-to-one Music Production lessons are always fun.

What do others say about you?

I’m not sure…I’d like to think that they’d say that I’m a good team member, I’m always in a good mood and happy to help in whatever way that I can…but I might be wrong!?

Other hats

Stowe Recording Studio Manager; I work on developing the potential of the recording studio and widening its use and availability. When I’m not teaching I’m often found running coursework recording sessions, scheduling external users outside of term time and organising residential holiday courses amongst other things. I also manage the Audio-Visual requirements within the Chung Music School, taking care of live sound and lighting for concerts and performances.

Passions

I am slightly obsessive about guitars and recording equipment, and more recently I have started making custom electric guitars. Outside of music my other passion is rugby, more spectating than playing these days though!
