Life before Stowe

Before I joined Stowe I was working as a piano teacher/accompanist and performer and I worked in several private and state schools both in and around London.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

I enjoy the variety that comes with a career in music. Whether it is performing a piano concerto or accompanying students for their exams, it is wonderful to be making music every day. I have always had a particular passion for the piano as it is in many ways comparable to having an entire orchestra at your fingertips. I enjoy helping students work on their pieces and enabling them to express both themselves and the composer’s intentions when they perform. I love the fact that music is such a powerful universal language.

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

I enjoy working amongst such beautiful grounds and buildings. The Music Department is extremely busy and there is always something exciting happening musically. The Stoics are a joy to teach and I consider it a privilege to pass on my knowledge to my piano students and see them develop into accomplished musicians in their own right.

I enjoy composing and painting in my spare time and I have recently tried my hand at drumming for local charitable events.
