Mrs Andrea Johnson

Andrea Johnson is currently a teacher of chemistry at Tudor Hall School. She was the Headmistress of Wychwood School in Oxford from 2012-2022 and, before that, she was assistant head at Tudor Hall where she worked for 20 years. She is teaching chemistry again – her first professional love - to girls between years 8 and 13 and loving every minute. She is married to a retired scientist and they have two adult children, one continuing the family tradition as Head of Humanities at a local maintained academy and the other has just completed her Master’s degree at Glasgow University.

Having attended Durham university for both her undergraduate degree and PGCE, Andrea began her career as a chemistry teacher in a large comprehensive in Sunderland and rapidly progressed to Head of Science at Battle Abbey School, followed by Head of Physical Sciences and IVs Housemistress at Tudor Hall. Besides her academic background, Andrea also has considerable experience in boarding and pastoral care having been a Housemistress during her time at both Battle Abbey and Tudor Hall. During her career, Andrea has also spent time in Switzerland working for IBM in their research division and teaching at the International School in Zumikon near Zurich.
