Andrea Johnson is currently the Headmistress of Wychwood School in Oxford. Formerly assistant Head at Tudor Hall where she worked for 23 years, she is the first head of Wychwood not to be an Old Girl. She teaches chemistry to year 7 and at GCSE and is married to a retired scientist. They have two adult children, one educated at Stowe who is continuing the family tradition and teaching at Chipping Norton School and the other reading drama at Birmingham.
Having attended Durham University for both her undergraduate degree and PGCE, Andrea began her career as a chemistry teacher in a large comprehensive in Sunderland and rapidly progressed to Head of Science at Battle Abbey School, followed by Head of Physical Sciences at Tudor Hall. Besides her academic background, Andrea has considerable experience in boarding and pastoral care having been a Housemistress during her time at both Battle Abbey and Tudor Hall. During her career, Andrea has also spent time in Switzerland working for IBM in their research division and teaching at the International School in Zumikon near Zurich.
