Life before Stowe

I had worked in the gas industry for over 20 years, primarily in people and project management positions. Since qualifying as a maths teacher, I have been teaching at Campion School in Northamptonshire.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

I love solving problems which on the face of it look really tricky, but just applying a little of my maths knowledge to break it down to provide me with a simple solution is really enjoyable. It is even more satisfying seeing pupils overcome those initial barriers.

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

I feel immensely privileged to work in such a beautiful location with such a positive atmosphere.

What is your favourite Lesson?

Anything where you bring maths to life by applying it to real life situations, so pupils start to think how valuable these skills are.

What do others say about you?

I would like to hope people think I am conscientious and funny. I have a very dry sense of humour which often is lost on others.

Other hats

I am a tutor and look after the Fourth Formers in Chatham. I support the School squash team and am involved in the DoE programme.

Passions

During the holidays I spend most of my time with my family, particularly my young son who needs a lot of entertaining. I enjoy going cycling and am a long suffering supporter of Gloucester Rugby.
