Working for The Stowe Group

Welcome to The Stowe Group’s dedicated career page

The Stowe Group

The Stowe Group of schools (Stowe, Ashfold, Swanbourne House and Winchester House) is situated on four separate sites in Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire and educates children from 3-18 years. Within The Stowe Group there are more than 1,800 pupils and 800 members of staff. The schools occupy sites of historical significance in Swanbourne, Dorton, Brackley and the world-famous landscape gardens at Stowe, where we work with The National Trust to manage 880 acres and open the grounds to over 200,000 visitors a year. Stowe House is open to the public during the School holidays and for guided tours during term time.

Our Schools are not only outstanding places to learn, they are great places to work too

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are central to The Stowe Group’s vision. We pride ourselves on our commitment as an organisation to welcome diversity, and we are committed to providing an inclusive environment where anyone with talent can thrive. To ensure we continue to best serve a diverse community, our ambition is to attract and retain a workforce that is representative of the diversity of our pupil body.

Stowe School

Stowe School

Stowe School occupies Stowe House and approximately 200 acres of the Stowe estate, and is located in Stowe’s world-famous landscape gardens set in 880 acres. Stowe School is an independent co-educational boarding School with approximately 900 pupils. There are around 500 full and part-time staff with 60 staff and their families living on site.

In January 2021, Winchester House and Swanbourne House Schools became part of The Stowe Group and in 2025 we welcomed Ashfold School to The Group.

We are committed to fostering team engagement, attracting, mentoring, developing and retaining our best teachers and non-teaching staff.

Winchester House School

Winchester House School was founded in 1875 and moved to its present 18-acre site in the centre of Brackley in 1922. The heart of the School is situated in Manor House, an attractive building dating from the early 1800s. Winchester House comprises a fully co-educational nursery, pre-prep and preparatory school, offering an outstanding education to children aged 3-13 with day, occasional and weekly boarding available.

We believe it is the collective responsibility of our colleagues  to help develop the cognitive, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of everyone in our community. Our school culture is characterised by teamwork, collaboration and mutual respect.

Swanbourne House School

Swanbourne House School is a co-educational Preparatory school for ages 4 to 13 based in the Buckinghamshire countryside, around 20 mins from Aylesbury and Milton Keynes. Our curriculum provides a broad education with strong academic foundations, allowing pupils with a range of abilities, interests and learning styles to flourish.

Our aim is to provide our colleagues with the support they need so that they can respond enthusiastically to the challenges which being part of a busy school entails.

At Swanbourne House we take a particular pride in our reputation for a broad education and we recognise that this is built very much on the commitment and skills of our colleagues.

Ashfold School

Nestled in 35 acres of beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside, Ashfold School provides a truly special learning environment. Our pupils have the freedom to explore, climb trees, build dens, and enjoy the great outdoors in a safe and inspiring space. Conveniently located near Thame, Princes Risborough, Aylesbury, Bicester, and Oxford, with excellent transport links to London, our idyllic setting offers the best of both worlds.

At Ashfold, we are more than a school—we are a family-focused community where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to thrive. Often likened to a village, our supportive and inclusive community fosters a deep sense of belonging.

Stowe House Preservation Trust

The Stowe House Preservation Trust (SHPT) is an independent charity working in partnership with Stowe School, as the building’s tenant, and the National Trust, who manage Stowe’s landscape gardens in which the house is sited.  Formed in 1997 to raise funds for and carry out a £40m restoration programme, SHPT has, since 2000, delivered some £28m of restoration work to the exterior and interiors of the building and much has been achieved to preserve and restore the fabric of Stowe House to a magnificent standard.

During term-time, Stowe House takes the identity of Stowe School, an independent co-educational boarding School.  Outside of term-time, the House becomes a visitor destination and one of Buckinghamshire’s most stunning events venues for weddings, corporate and residential hire and sports facilities.

The Stowe House Preservation Trust has a fantastic team of more than 70 volunteers https://www.stowe.co.uk/house/join-the-team/volunteer
