Open Art 2017

The Stowe House Preservation Trust’s Community and Learning team has been working closely with three local secondary schools: Sir Thomas Fremantle (Buckingham), Oakgrove (Milton Keynes) and Denbigh School (Milton Keynes). The competition forms part of the Enlightenment for All project as funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Students from these schools visited Stowe House and the National Trust garden in early 2017 and took part in a number of workshops and activities including:
Printmaking, creating 3D mythical creatures, sketching and taking photographs .
Back at school they were given  a competition brief to work on over the spring term.
The competition brief this year was :  ‘Lost Worlds’
We wanted pupils to create an imaginative and artistic response to this theme.
The work you will see is from a range of years from Yr7 - Yr10 in a wide variety of mediums and techniques. From each school we chose one winner & commended several pieces we felt were original and thoughtful works of art that linked to the brief.
We want to congratulate the winners and thank all  those who participated in the
competition by submitting their beautiful work for display.
