Restoration Intern A Ray of Sunshine

10 August 2015

Stowe has honed, and homed, the top architects from every period since 1571 - from Sir John Vanbrugh to William Kent historically, and more recently Nick Cox (Nick Cox Past Projects) and Rick Mather (Rick Mather Past Projects).

The beautiful details of the house and striking structural features make it a photographer’s paradise.

The camera-less kind, however, is not usually the method of choice. Cyanotype photography proved to be a winner with the youngest children, the busy ‘child-responsible grown-ups’ and our oldest guests at the Grand Opening.

Layering photo negatives, various sweeping branches of foliage or delicate petals in a carefree confetti effect, and a few loose pearls and beads, made collage creations that were suitably magical. All that was needed was a drop of water and a ray of sunshine.
