Information for new parents

Joining us in September 2010?

We are pleased to provide some preliminary information here for those anxious to know what to expect at Stowe in September. A full welcome and information pack will be sent to all parents - this includes all the relevant joining instructions, school uniform, school policies etc.  In the meantime we hope you will find the information below helpful.

A warm welcome to our new Stoics. We are looking forward to welcoming you to Stowe in September.

To give you an idea of what to expect during your first few days, here is an outline of the welcome programme for our new pupils:

Welcome and Introduction Timetable for our new Third Form:

Monday 6 September - The School Shop will be open all day
4.00 pm Third Form pupils and parents arrive - (please wear school uniform)
5.00 pm Introduction to Stowe for Third Form pupils in Drayson Hall
5.15 pm Headmaster welcomes Third Form parents in Roxburgh Hall
6.15 pm Headmaster welcomes Third Form Pupils in the Music Room
6.45 pm Supper in the State Dining Room
7.25 pm Close time - all pupils back to house
6.45pm Supper in the School's Dining Room with your Tutors
7.25pm Back to your House for the evening
   
Tuesday 7 September
8.10 am House meeting
8.20 am  Chapel
8.40 am  Activities
10.30 am  Break
11.00 am Activities
12.45 pm Lunch
1.30 pm  PSHE presentation in Dobinson Theatre
2.15 pm  Introduction to Music in the Music Room
3.30 pm  Games
5.00 pm  Back to House
5.45 pm To Marble Hall to meet Tutors
5.50 pm Service of welcome at Stowe Parish Church
6.45 pm Supper
7.25 pm Close time in House
8.00 pm Remainder of School returns
   
Wednesday 8 September
8.20 am Chapel and Assembly
9.10 am Tutor period for all School
9.40 am Normal School lessons, games and activities begin
6.45 pm Supper
7.25 pm House meetings
7.45 pm Prep

Welcome and Introduction Timetable for our Lower Sixth Form

Our new Lower Sixth are asked to arrive at 10.30am on Monday 6 September.  Current Fifth Form who are moving up into the Lower Sixth Form in September should arrive at 11.00am on Tuesday 7 September.  Please ensure you arrive with games kit.

The following is an outline of the programmein the run-up to the start of term:

 

Monday 6 September - The school shop will be open all day.

10.30am New Lower Form pupils and parents arrive - (please wear school uniform)
11.30 am Activities for Lower Sixth Form pupils in Roxburgh Theatre
11.30 am Headmaster welcomes parents of new pupils in the Music Room
12.00 noon Parents of New Lower Sixth Form pupils meet Tutors and House staff in Boarding House
1.00 pm Lunch for parents, staff and pupils
1.30 pm Parents depart
1.30 pm Pupils chnage into casual dress
2.00 pm Induction session 1
3.15 pm Induction session 2
4.30 pm Tea in houses

5.00 pm

Introduction to Music at Stowe in the Music Room
6.30 pm Barbeque supper for all New Lower Sixth Form pupils 
7.25 pm  Close time - All pupils under House arrangements 
   

Tuesday 7 September

8.10 am House meeting
8.20 am Chapel
9.00 am Tour of academic area with Tutors
9.30 am Introduction to Stowe's Academic Curruculum, Careers and UCAS
10.30 am Break
11.00 am PSHE presentation in the Dobinson Theatre
11.00 am Rest of Lower Sixth Form not new to Stowe arrive to Houses
12.00 am House meeting for all Lower Sixth Form pupils
12.30 pm Lunch
1.30pm Headmaster speaks to all Lower Sixth Form and Tutors in Roxburgh Hall
2.00 pm Tutor period
2.45 pm Introduction to Stowe's Extended Curruculum in the Roxburgh Hall
3.30 pm Games
6.15 pm Supper
7.25 pm Close time in House
8.00 pm Remainder of School returns
