Festival of Music

Last Sunday, the Music Department held their annual Festival of Music. Eightyeight pupils participated in the event, some of whom took part in more than one class, resulting in over 120 outstanding performances. We were delighted to welcome adjudicators from the world of music: Brass and Percussion – Stephen Roberts, Keyboard – Graham Scott, Strings – Jo Cole, Voice – Sheridan Coldstream and Mrs Patricia Roxburgh, Woodwind – Ian Mitchell. Performances were judged at Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each class – a considerable amount of chocolate was awarded! The winners of the Senior Classes each earned a place in the Mozart Trio Prize
competition which took place later in the day. The finalists were Augustus Perkins Ray (Piano, Brass and Voice), Lucy Coe (Woodwind), Edward McDonald (Strings) and James Larter (Percussion). It was an outstanding final event with extraordinary performances and congratulations go to James Larter who was the overall winner. This week we also waved off 9 Stoics and 2 teachers on tour to Bangkok to play in the International Dance Festival.
