Soccer
Football is offered as an activity to boys every afternoon from Monday to Friday. Sessions take place on the grass pitches on the Bourbon and involve all year groups. A typical afternoon would involve registration, warm up and then a full game. There are no formal drills or fitness sessions but the staff in charge are there to encourage and guide - in terms of tactics, technique and the laws of the game. As the term progresses a good deal of improvement is made by all the boys.
At present the 1st XI team represents the School in about 7 fixtures spread over 2 terms, usually played on Sunday afternoons. These matches are normally hard-fought and there is a good deal of competition for places.
In addition, various House competitions (including the Girls' Houses) also take place and are always very keenly fought. Football is played with passion and enthusiasm. Several Old Stoic teams return every year to play against the boys.
