Karate
The karate club is called C.E.S.K.A. Central England Shotokan Karate Association, www.ceska.co.uk. Founded and run by the Sensei Peter Calver 5th Dan Black belt who has been doing karate for nearly 30 years and teaching for over 27 years. Classes are run weekly, for one or two hour sessions. The class is open to all pupils and staff too.
The classes enable Stoics to learn self-defence, attain physical fitness and confidence, take part in competition and have fun. Through whole-hearted practice Stoics experience personal growth and the development of intuitive wisdom, characteristics of positive mental attitudes, indomitable spirit, and complete awareness of the moment, which will prove to be valuable and constructive influences in everyday life.
The class offers practical training against assaults and attacks and covers from the complete beginner to Black Belt classes and competition karate for the more advanced student. There is also Bo and other weapons training.
