Clay Pigeon Shooting
Clay Pigeon Shooting is a popular activity that can be enjoyed throughout the school year. Pupils can take part either recreationally or as part of the highly successful School team which competes in inter-school competitions.
We shoot clays twice a week on Wednesdays from 2.00-4.00pm, and on Fridays from 3.00-5.00pm. The activity takes place on the Bursar's Field (adjacent to the Bourbon Playing Fields) where the School has its own traps as well as a tower.
It is open to all - from Third Formers to Upper Sixth - and we use a variety of guns, both 12 and 20 bore. We are occasionally joined by members of staff who fancy a shoot. Guns (and cartridges) are supplied by Mssrs. Lockwood, Harris and Spademan, our shooting coaches.
There are matches at both senior and junior level. The latter tend to be against local Prep Schools. Clay Pigeon Shooting is well supported at Stowe and we currently hold (indeed have held for the past two years in 2007 and 2008) the shield as winners of the Warwick Challenge.
