Badminton

Badminton is a popular choice with Stoics who enjoy racket sports including tennis and squash. It works very well with these sports as the season runs into the time change back to Greenwich Mean Time and as light and weather at this time of year are always a problem, it works excellently as an Indoor activity.

A range of ages play Badminton. The pupils play Doubles competitively and Singles are played socially. A coach is generally available for two afternoons per week to help our players improve their skills. The coach provides an excellent opportunity for the boys and girls to advance themselves in their techniques of play and as they see improvement so too does their desire to win.

Matches are played on Wednesday and Saturday with the occasional Tuesday match following lessons. The teams are wide ranging in skill and ability so there is room for everyone. The best thing is the enthusiasm to participate that the pupils all share. An Inter-House Competition is run for both the Juniors and Seniors during the Michaelmas term, for House Doubles and Singles in each age group.
