Debating Society

Each year the School holds a hotly-contested Junior House Debating Competition which gives Stoics from each of the first three years the chance to practise their debating skills. In the Senior School debates are held each term on a wide variety of subjects, culminating in a Balloon debate in the final term of the year.

Amongst other topics, issues such as the importance of girls' sport, the right to privacy of public figures and the protection afforded to women in rape cases have been on the agenda for Senior Debates, while the Juniors have debated the ethics of eating meat, the future of the monarchy and the need to ban fatty snacks from the Tuck Shop.

There is also a Debating Society Dinner held at the end of the year.
