Creative Writing

A group of mainly Sixth Formers meets weekly to write creatively: drafts, finished pieces, work inprogress; stories, poems, plays. Mr Steven Thompson gives advice and encouragement. Part of the fun is reading out (often unfinished) pieces to each other, but there is no compulsion to recite. This activity is very important in giving opportunity for Stoics to showcase their talents in creative areas and also in allowing individuals to explore their imaginations in a stimulating but relaxed environment, removed from the ordinary hustle and bustle of school life.

The group eventually produces its own magazine. Mr Thompson submits selected pieces to the School's annual magazine, The Stoic, for publication, and some are recited in a special Literary Society meeting.
