Creative Textiles

We offer this activity on five afternoons a week and it is open for all Stoics, both Boys and Girls. The subject is varied and, as we run this as an activity rather than an examination subject, we are not bound by syllabuses, deadlines, or grades.

Many topics are covered including:

• Fashion Design
• Greetings Cards and Gifts
• Interior Design
• Fabric and Silk Painting
• Items to enhance your Study
• Batik
• Soft Furnishings
• Embroidery (machine and hand)
• Charity Shop Finds (resizing and adapting)
• Papermaking
• Marbling
• Heat Transfer Printing

Also, we help Stoics wishing to study at Fashion College with their final Portfolios. This year we shall be visiting The Clothes Show (NEC), the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), and Harrods.

The Department is run by two teachers:

Mrs Cammish, who has taught A Level and GCSE Textiles for many years, and who has her own Interior Design Company, and Mrs Banks, who has also taught A Level and GCSE Textiles for many years, and is a professional Embroiderer with her own Stall in Covent Garden (London).

Masters in charge - Mrs Cammish and Mrs Banks
