Stowe House Opening Times

Due to additional events, weddings and filming in Stowe House these dates may change - before your visit please view the Website or 'phone +44 (0)1280 818166 for the most up to date information.
Stowe House is open throughout the year. During term time the house is only open for a 2pm tour, some or all of the State Rooms will be included. With the next phase of restoration underway, the State Library will not be open to the public until mid August 2010.
Dates in bold denote changes from the usual open times to be aware of.

Stowe House is closed Mondays and Tuesdays. When the House is open from 12pm - 5pm, last admissions are at 4pm. Please see the admission prices page for more information about entry to the house.
There is a 2pm public tour every day that the house is open.
The 2pm public tour provides a comprehensive understanding of the house and family, lasting approximately 1¼ hours.
Tours listed below run regularly throughout the day, please ask at the House visitor desk upon arrival for more information.
Introductory Tour - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Lasting approximately 30 minutes this tour of the State Rooms focuses on key information about the house and family.
Gothic Library Tour - Wednesday only.
Lasting approximately 30 minutes this tour enables the visitor to view Sir John Soane's Gothic Library (The Head Master's Private Study) which until July 2010 had never been open for public view.
School Tour - Thursday only.
Lasting approximately 30 minutes this tour focuses on the site from a school perspective, including a visit to the School Chapel and a walk around the exterior of the school buildings, focusing on those designed by Vanbrugh, Clough Williams-Ellis and contemportary architect Rick Mathers.
Restoration Tour - Friday only.
Lasting approximately 30 minutes this tour focuses on the ongoing restoration of Stowe House. Specifically focusing on current phases of restoration.
There is no extra charge for the tours and no pre-booking is necessary. Tickets for the house can be purchased either at the National Trust Visitor Centre or at the House on the day.
