Current Restoration Work

State Music Room

In April 2012 Stowe's State Music Room will be undergoing restoration. Work will be focussed mainly on the cleaning of Vincenzo Valdre's decorative paint work and repairing damage to the plaster work and mouldings. The fragile wooden floor will also be repaired. Work is anticipated to be completed by late August 2012.

This work is being undertaken thanks to the assistance of World Monuments Fund Britain and a generous pledge of $250,000 from The Paul Mellon Estate.

Unlike all previous restoration projects, the Music Room will remain open to the public as much as possible whilst conservators carry out their work. This is a fantastic opportunity to see conservation in action, with specialist tours running throughout the Summer.

At certain times it may be necessary to close the Music Room for the safety of our visitors. Please check the Opening Times before visiting to avoid disappointment.
