Life before Stowe

I was born and educated in Ulster; gained a BA from Queens University Belfast and then a Post Graduate Diploma in Librarianship. I worked in public and college libraries in Ulster and Devon before marrying and moving to Sussex where I was the School Librarian at Worth Abbey for many years.

What do you enjoy most about your subject?

Hearing a student talking enthusiastically about a book they have just read and the satisfaction I get from seeing a student discover for themselves what previously they thought was inaccessible.

What do you enjoy most about Stowe?

The view from the Library windows down the South Front and over the lake to the Corinthian Arch.

What is your favourite Lesson?

The Third Form Library induction lessons when they learn about the history of Stowe Library and what it can offer them during their time at Stowe.

Other hats

As well as being the Librarian I am Tutor to 12 Fourth Form girls in Lyttelton House, mentor to the Harvard Scholars and President of the Common Room.

Passions

I love reading(!!), walking, travelling and cooking but am at my happiest when sitting round a table with my husband, daughter and close friends, enjoying good food and wine or walking along my favourite beach on the North Coast of Ireland.
