XX Group
XX (Twenty) Group is Stowe’s Lower School academic scholars club. Comprised of the top ten students from the Third and Fourth Forms who are selected for membership based on academic performance and teacher recommendations, XX Group meets semi-weekly with the purpose of extending the brightest Lower School students outside of the classroom.
Students are exposed to interesting but challenging ideas and topics with the aim that the experience will inspire them in their own academic pursuits. Activities during meetings vary from informal chats about academic progress to guest lecturers speaking on topics as varied as logic games and race issues.
A major focus for the 2006-2007 school year is the preparation of independent research projects by individual or paired XX Group members on topics of their selection. After completing their projects by the beginning of the Summer term, XX Group members will present their results to teachers, parents, and friends at an open-forum research symposium.
