History of Art Society The History of Art Society meets on a termly basis involving external guests to offer lectures on their specialist interests. The Society aims to widen the experience of pupils following the History of Art A level, introducing them to new artworks, artists and ideas and to encourage them to think about art in ways that go beyond the requirements of their syllabus. Speakers addressing the Society are draw from all areas of the art world and include academics, curators, gallery directors and the like. Pupils not only benefit from the content of their talks, but learn from the speakers' diverse perspectives on art, the sheer range and breadth of possibilities available to them in this very lively area of culture. Contributions from pupils at the Society's meetings are not only through questions after the main address, they also have the opportunity to discuss issues that have interested them personally on a one to one basis with the speaker. Meeting lecturers and art world figures has encouraged many pupils to consider reading for a degree in History of Art or an eventual career in a related field. Master in charge: Mr lain Young
